Ashley Roy Westwood[1] (born 1 April 1990) is a footballer playing for Crewe Alexandra.
Career
He made his Crewe debut on 28 March 2009, coming on as a second half substitute in the Football League One clash with Milwall at Gresty Road, which ended in a 1–0 loss. In December 2009, the player, following a string of impressive performances, signed a contract that will keep him at the club until 2012. Despite only playing 22 minutes of first team football previous, Westwood was named Crewe's player of the year for the 2009-2010 season. The campaign saw the midfielder score six goals in 36 appearances. Speaking of the player's success, Crewe assistant manager Steve Davis commented: "He's a local lad and he's come from nowhere. People didn't really know much about him because he wasn't one of the young rising stars, but over the last 18 months he's kicked on and shown what he can do." On November 17, 2010, Westwood signed a new deal which will keep him at the club until 2014.[2]
